Welcome to Charlesfield First

Charlesfield is located in the heart of the Scottish Borders near Melrose and is the important strategic location for a mix of commercial and agricultural uses offering employment opportunities and products / services. Charlesfield First LLP and its members Trevor Jackson and Iain MacKinnon are promoting the creation of rural, sustainable commercial opportunities at Charlesfield. Success will assist in further stimulating the Borders’ economy, both from within and from outwith the area by creating rural employment opportunities and by attracting inward investment.

Charlesfield was promoted through the Scottish Borders Council Local Plan Inquiry during 2006 / 07 leading to the adoption of the current Local Plan in 2008. Following the allocation of land at Charlesfield for employment / Industrial purposes in the Local Plan, Charlesfield First LLP is currently intensively engaged in the promotion of Renewable Energy opportunities, as well as continuing to explore commercial and longer term residential opportunities.
